WHO WE ARE

Welcome to the Matt Family Orchard. We are a family owned and operated pick-your-own orchard and nursery. Matt Family Orchard is located 30 miles northwest of Houston off Highway 290. In 1996 we purchased 85 acres of an undeveloped subdivision with an airplane landing strip. We also started the installation of an irrigation system, today we have over twenty miles of buried irrigation pipe. We planted our first tree in the spring of 1997 and today we have 33 acres planted with blackberries, some thornless, figs, jujube (Asian dates), Asian pears, Asian persimmons and citrus. In 1998 we added picnic facilities for over 100 people.  In 2002 we built a barn and flushable toilets. In 2005 we added a deer proof fence and purchased guinea hens to free roam the orchard.

Besides the orchard we also provide facilities for group outings, offering fun educational tours to schools, church groups and other organizations. Groups enjoy the country experience while using picnic facilities, playground and sporting equipment. Evening hayrides and sing alongs by the campfire are fun for all ages.

Fruit picking hours are  9am to 2pm however, our hours are seasonal depending on fruit availability.  Our Harvest Festival, with a pumpkin patch, is celebrated in October and November.
